Are Gays Givers or Receivers?
With the holidays less than one month away, everyone's now in full-blown gift mode. Our brains are buzzing with ideas of what we want, what we want to give -- and who we want to give it to ...
I for one know exactly what I'd like to get this year: An iPhone, "Mamma Mia!" on DVD, as many Amazon gift cards as possible, a few great bottles of red Zin and a Deisel gift card. If I get even one of these things this year, I'm a happy lad.
When it comes to the holidays, there are bascially two kinds of poeple -- gift givers and gift receivers. I fall into the latter category, and I'm not ashamed to say so. I get excited when someone hands me a present, and if someone asks me what I'd like to get, I'm not shy -- I tell them.
Then there are the givers -- the people who seem to get off by giving the perfect gift. God bless the givers! They spend hours, days, weeks and even months thinking, planning and plotting just the right present for just the right person.
While I'm definitely a known receiver within my circle of gay friends, it occurred to me that all of my friends are big gift givers. That got me wondering how most gays and lesbians would label themselves when it comes to gifts -- givers or receivers?
If you're interested, answer any or all of these questions on the comments section below. Feel free to elaborate as much as you want.
1 -- Are you a gift giver or a gift receiver?
2 - If you're a receiver, what are the top three things you want most this holiday?
3 - If you're a giver, what three gifts are you most excited about giving this year -- and why?

I thought it was a top/bottom article.

I'm definately on the giving end as I hate receiving gifts. I'd always decline an expensive gift and return anything elaboriate unless it's from the partner and even that has to be within reason. As for the giving, it's not what is given, it is what strikes during various shopping sprees. As I am wandering (cruising) a store looking at various items, you see something and it just screams out a friend, co-worker or a family member's name. The same occurs when shopping online. One year, as I was walking through a toy department, the simplist of things, a teddy bear was just especially adorable and I thought of an a guy that worked at one of the local bars. He wasn't the friendliest of guys. So I grabbed it up. Near Christmas, I wrapped and gave it to him. He was in tears. He confided later that was probably the only gift he had received in nearly 10 years.

I love to give, always have like Todd. I get very excited when I find the perfect gift for that special friend or family member.
Plus to I give all year round as well, it makes me feel so good, to be able to do for others. I try to make a mental note when I hear or see a family member or friend see something they like and go back and get it for them.

I am a giver (of gifts and such).
And not just always of my humble opinion! LOL.
This year – I am giving my sisters oldest son – an electronic keyboard. I know it might sound odd – but he has NOOOOOOOOOOOO idea that it’s going to happen. Not in a million trillion zillion light years would he even dare to guess.
He’s a great kid and deserves it. He taught himself to play early on just like his Great, Great Grandmother – she was pretty cool too.
To my sisters youngest son I will be giving a Chronograph Watch. Again – this one has no idea at all that it’s going to happen. Well – maybe a little bit – he is clever – very clever.
He will one day jump out of planes – catch bad guys – and save peoples lives.
And finally – to the one in the middle – I shall grant 5 new shirts for school - $50 cash – and a muzzle. You have no idea how much delight I take in knowing this one has no idea either!
He has informed all of us he intends to be an attorney when he grows up. He has stated this since he was 6.
I love them all so much – they truly inspire me to be a better person each day.

LOL....gays tend to be pretty selfish so I would think most prefer to receive.

Sex sells! Look at the title of this article.
Are Gays Givers or Receivers?
I came here to see if we were going to have a real discussion about roles we might play during the holiday season.
But unfortunately when i unwrapped the article it was pretty dry and not too thought provoking.
A bit of a let down.
Maybe this article could be spiced up to include what would you like in your bed for Christmas? And will you be giving or receiving?... Lets not talk about "gifting" thats another story for another time....
Have a good holiday season guys!

I love to give, everyone that knows who I am knows I give, infact i gave a christmas gift to my roomates early, I paid there way in full to walt Disney World for 10 days, it was a blast. It has been a philosophy of mine that giving is a greater reward then getting. Now this tends to be problamatic, i have delt with abusers of my kindness in the past, I;m more aware of that sort of behavior and do not fall victom to it, or atleast not in a while. I just feel so good inside when I give, and o do not reserve it for holidays, sometimes the best gift is just because you want to and when the reciever gets a gift at the least unexpected moment, seeing the look on the face, or better yet, if it is a partner, that special moment that you share with that partner just cause you love.
